Up to $900,000 is up for grabs in the 2025-26 funding round of the State Government’s Riverbank program with expressions of interest now open.
The Riverbank program is managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and supported by Burswood Park Board.
DBCA Manager Swan Canning Waterways Branch Glen McLeod-Thorpe explained the Riverbank program provides grants to State and local government for foreshore restoration and protection projects in the Swan Canning Riverpark.
“Agencies managing land in the Riverpark are encouraged to apply for funding for foreshore rehabilitation and protection activities,” Mr McLeod-Thorpe said.
“Eligible projects include revegetation, weed control and foreshore erosion control projects that protect or enhance the environmental values, community benefit and public amenity of the Riverpark.
“The Riverpark is an important green corridor in the Perth landscape that includes native vegetation which provides habitat for native wildlife, supports the health of the Swan Canning rivers and benefits the community.
“I encourage eligible organisations looking to implement projects that meet the criteria to apply for the program.”
Grant recipients match funding dollar for dollar.
More than $60 million in State and local funding has now been invested in foreshore restoration projects across 360 sites since the program was introduced in 2002.
Expressions of interest close at 4pm Friday 18 April 2025. Information for applicants is available at www.dbca.wa.gov.au/riverbank.
