Vegetation along the Upper Canning River
  • Up to $1.5 million funding available for a range of foreshore rehabilitation projects
  • Applications now open for WA Government's Riverbank Program
  • More than 350 sites revitalised since the program launched in 2002 

The Riverbank Program provides grants to State and local government agencies managing land in the Swan Canning Riverpark.

The funding is available for projects that protect or enhance the environmental, recreational and cultural values of the rivers. The program is supported by the Burswood Park Board.

The State Government has contributed more than $27.2 million to restoration projects at 352 sites within the Swan Canning Riverpark since 2002. This funding has been matched by foreshore land managers meaning a total of $59 million has been invested.

"I encourage eligible candidates to submit applications for the Riverbank Program, which for more than two decades has funded important work to protect and restore our waterways.

"These projects go a long way to creating habitats for wildlife, reducing erosion and improving water quality.
