The marine park features intertidal reef platforms, coastal sand beaches, a high limestone reef about 1 km from the coast, Little Island, and the Centaur Reef/Three Mile Reef system. Diverse marine communities are habitat for Sealions, dolphins and whales, and contain valuable commercial fisheries, particularly rock-lobster. Lying adjacent to a densely populated sector of the Perth metropolitan area, the marine park is extensively used for recreation.

The Whadjuk and Yuat groups of the Noongar people are acknowledged as the traditional owners of the area covered by this plan.
